Playful in Pearls – Pearl Satin Whip by Cal Exotics

I got my monthly package from California Exotics this week. As always I tore into it as soon as it was in my hands. The last few reviews I did were all extremely positive. This one however, not so much.

The packaging was as gorgeous as you would expect from Cal Exotics. I was excited to see that I had gotten a whip, as I am into the bdsm scene. However, when I took the whip out of the box, I saw that it was definitely a beginner toy. It is made of ribbon and is adorned with 2 strings of pearls. It is a pretty piece, but barely stings even when whipping as hard as I could.

The pearls attached to the handle seem a bit cheap.  It’s not the look of them that gives off this feel, it is the way they are attached.  There are a handful of stitches holding them on, and they shift and move a bit too much.  I think a few more stitches or an adhesive of sorts would work wonders for securing the pearls and giving this item the elegant look they were going for.  The actual handle itself has a good feel to it, and feels strong and sturdy.  I like the wrapping on the handle quite a bit, and the strap is a good additive.

This whip seems it would make more of a body teaser, than an actual whip.  Something to trace along yours or your partners body while the blindfold is on, or if it’s a solo adventure, while reading a book or watching your favorite adult film.  If you are into whips, canes, or paddles, I would skip this item.  If you are more curious about bondage and expanding horizons for the first time, then this may be an ok item for you.

I would definitely not recommend this toy to someone who has experience with whips and floggers, but if you are looking to add something different to your toy box, this is a good option. The Pearl Satin Whip is less than $16, and is part of the ‘Playful in Pearls’ line of California Exotics toys.
